Euro-Soft began Work with the Global Medical Device Nomenclature (GMDN) some 6 years ago. GMDN provide the most extensive nomenclature of medical device terms and definitions available. It is used throughout the world by Regulatory bodies including the FDA in the USA , the European Data Exchange (eudamed), the TDA in Australia as well as regulators in Japan, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, China etc. The system contains 9000 preferred terms as well as 15000 synonyms. The preferred terms are currently being translated, by the European Commission Translation Service, into all 23 European Languages in preparation for it acceptance into European Law.

Euro-Soft redesigned the database management system from the Lotus notes platform it was originally created in into an online Nomenclature management system incorporating data integrity checks, translation services, Abbreviation Management and other data integrity tools. The next phase was to provide online access to the nomenclature to replace the old CD Rom distribution and to develop an E Commerce solution to allow for the ongoing funding of the Agency.

Euro-Soft provide ongoing development for GMDN both through a fulltime support and consultancy contract and a project based program introducing new features and enhancements including a smart search facility and a mapping system to allow companies to map their catalogue via a simple drag and drop interface.

The project is built on Microsoft Dot Net and SQL Server.
